Shirofu, once again, was going no where specifically. He just wanted to be away from his rival and his friend. He had thought that this was probably the best thing for him.

The sun was already up in the sky, butterflies were flying by. There was a nice breeze in the air. It was also so quiet, only the small sound of wind can be heard. It was practically a perfect day, not even Shirofu sensed any danger nearby.

Soon, Shirofu had heard an echo. He heard laughter from young ones, as well as male wolves messing around. Shirofu looked at the direction of where he heard the noise only to see four young wolves chasing each other, five male wolves talking, and one wolf left alone. Shirofu stared at the lone wolf. It was a young female wolf. Regular colored, just gray and white fur. Shirofu felt like that he must go up to her.

Carefully, Shirofu approached the young one, keeping his distance to not scare her. “Hello there” said Shirofu, trying to get the little one to look up. “Hi…” replied the wolf, still facing downwards. “I see that you aren’t playing with the other young ones. Mind telling me why?”

Shirofu wanted to see if there was something he could do to make her have fun. “I just don’t… want to play with them” replied the wolf. One of the female wolves, around the same age as the one Shirofu was talking to, came up and said “Don’t waste your time with that little brat! She’s just uncool and LAME!” The other female wolf  then left to join her friends and laugh.

“Hmm… so I see she isn’t the nice one, am I correct?” asked Shirofu, a bit upset because of the behavior of the wolves. The younger one did not answer.

“Say… are your parents around?” Shirofu wanted to speak with her parents, just to let them know about their daughter not getting along well with the other wolves. “… My parents are dead” said the young wolf, still not looking up.

Shirofu did not know what to say. “Well… who takes care of you?” Shirofu began to feel a bit nervous, trying to not say the wrong thing. “No one… I live out here alone.” The young wolf looked at her right, just to avoid eye contact with Shirofu.

Shirofu had observed the young female to see that she has not bathed or ate in days. Taking the time to think, Shirofu got the courage to ask what he never had asked anyone else before. “Would you like to come with me? I see that these wolves do not welcome you, and seeing how I travel very often, we can probably find a nice family for you to be with.” Shirofu felt like he had asked the right thing.

There was an awkward silence. “… okay, but only until I find a family. I do not trust strangers…” The young wolf looked up to see the big red wolf, golden eyes, big ears and tail which made her feel surprised.

“You… You are Shirofu-sama! I thank you so deeply for allowing me to travel by your side!” The wolf got up quickly, excited to be with her hero. “But remember, just until we can find you a family” Shirofu allowed the young female to get on his back and stay there for the whole trip.

Shirofu stopped by a river to catch fish for the young wolf, seeing how weak and starving the young wolf was. The young wolf observed Shirofu actions and strategies to hunt fish by hand, or in this case, by paw.

Shirofu came back with 2 big fish and 1 small one. He gave the big ones to the young wolf, and ate the small one for himself.

“So tell me… what is your name?” Shirofu had forgotten to ask for the wolf’s name, he didn’t want to embarrass himself in any way. “My name is Sayuri. I come from the lands of crystal seas. My ancestors were the ones who brought pure water to all 11 villages around the area, every single day. I am proud for what they did, without them, many of the wolves would have died off.” Sayuri was smiling a bit, especially after munching on the big fish.

“Ah yes, I heard of the wolves that did that every day. I always feel glad that this world works together as a team. Unlike other wor-” Shirofu paused right there, forgetting that he must not speak freely of the other worlds.

“Huh?... What do you mean by ‘this world’?” Sayuri began to get suspicious. “I mean, this time of our world. I heard that hundreds of years ago, wolves fought each other everyday and never got along.” Shirofu got a bit nervous, but what he had said was true, before, many wolves did fight each other very often. “Oh yeah, I have heard about the terrible wars that have occurred back then.” Sayuri finished eating and lied down.

“I know this is too soon to say, but I am happy that someone took me away, just to somewhere more peaceful.” Sayuri smiled a bit. “Yes… I could see that the other wolves were treating you badly. But do not worry anymore, I shall make sure of it that you are put somewhere safe.” Shirofu, once again, felt good for what he had said.

He had felt like he was worth something again, just to help a young wolf in need. “Thank you Shirofu-sama, I know that I won’t regret traveling with you.” Sayuri had fallen asleep a few minutes afterwards, although the night sky has yet to appear.

Shirofu dragged Sayuri to the nearest tree to have her sleep under the shade. He made sure the temperature was fine. Once he made sure she was comfortable, he started to carve on a tree. Shirofu’s claws were thick and sharp, so sometimes Shirofu would carve drawings on trees, just to make time pass away. This, you could say, was a hobby of his. It always made him feel great on the inside, just to express is inner feelings with drawings even as simple as the sun.

“… Finished.” Shirofu had finished his carving of two wolves under the great moon. After looking at the moon image he drew, he gasped. He realized the night of the full moon was coming up, and that it was almost time. He must find a family for Sayuri quickly.

Shirofu stood there and thought about how fast of a pace he and Sayuri should go. Then Shirofu had an idea, he should put Sayuri on his back and go to the closest village he could get and search for couples that want a puppy or a family that wants another puppy.

Shirofu had walked miles already with Sayuri still sleeping on his back. Just then, he saw Tsamoi Village up ahead, a village where crops are growing everyday. This village had been around for several years, helping other villages that were low on food as well as for the poor wolves that were near death.

Shirofu had then started going door-to-door looking for a great family to take Sayuri in.

“As you can see sir, I can no longer take care of this pup. She has lost her parents and I promised her I would help her find a family before the full moon.” Shirofu had said, trying to convince a young couple to take in Sayuri.

“Akihiro, I think we are capable of raising a pup of our own. After all, we took care of the Eiji’s puppies once, remember?” said a young, pink, wolf. The male wolf, Akihiro, took deep thought into it. Akihiro and his wife talked and over and decided, they will take Sayuri in.

“I thank you very deeply. She was not safe with me; I travel too often and well… I run across the demon wolf every full moon. So seeing how the full moon is coming up very soon, I would suggest you tell the other villagers to lock themselves in at night… that is, IF their houses can take the damage of a thousand wolves.” Shirofu knew he had scared Akihiro, but he had to warn them of Shirofu himself.

“Thank you for letting us know, we will do our best protecting Sayuri.” Akihiro’s wife smiled as she closed her door.

Shirofu left afterwards, hoping that Sayuri wouldn’t wake up scared knowing that she is not with him.

Time passed by quickly, it was already late afternoon when Shirofu reached a lake. He had not had a drink in hours, and clearly after walking so much, he was thirsty. He took a drink out of the lake and then looked at himself in his reflection. He saw how he changed, he felt better about himself. He can see how he was doing more good, but by full moon, all that will change.

Shirofu looked much closer into the water; he saw a white wolf on top of huge rocks that were behind him. He turned around to see it for himself, but the wolf was already gone. “That’s odd. I could’ve sworn I saw someone there…”

Shirofu took one last drink and then started walking again. He thought about the small changes in his life. He also observed other life that bloomed around him, watched other puppies and wolves have fun. One young wolf stopped running around and smiled at Shirofu. Shirofu smiled back and continued walking.

He looked at his right, where the river flowed, and watch the many fish swim by. Many fish of different sizes, he had the perfect chance to catch them, but he let them be.

Shirofu then looked up at the sky; it was cloudy, which made him have a worried look. He soon heard a soft whisper, perhaps from a female wolf, that has said “Shirofu-sama…”

Shirofu turned around, only to see a white blur. This blur had left Blue and White fur on the ground. Shirofu picked it up and kept it with him. He was now able to sense the wolf if it ever came near him again.

Who was this wolf? Has Shirofu ever met him or her before? These questions ran through Shirofu’s mind for many hours.

It became night quickly… only a couple more days until the full moon appears. Shirofu was drowsy; he had not slept well in the past nights. But his strength was able to keep him awake. Unfortunately, Shirofu was not near any good resting areas yet, so he must continue miles further.

Shirofu kept walking more slowly as time went by, and it was already late morning when Shirofu had reached the next resting area. He was very sleepy, feeling like he was going to pass out, so he went to sleep right away. Unfortunately, he only had few hours of sleep until the familiar scent of the white wolf came. It was fast on the run, but Shirofu was able to get up and search for it.

Shirofu ran everywhere, trying to chase the wolf, but yet, he couldn’t see the wolf and soon the scent went away. He was a bit disappointed, but he was too tired to really care, so he went back to sleep.

In Shirofu’s dreams, Shirofu had kept on hearing an echo calling out his name; it kept saying that he should watch out for himself, that he must purify himself as soon as possible. Shirofu had known what the voice was talking about; he knew this had meant something about his change under the full moon. He was aware.

Shirofu had no clue on how to purify himself. His curse, curse of becoming a demonic wolf under the full moon, had been with him since he first morphed into a wolf.

His curse is one of the wicked ones, horrifying. The greatest reason why is because Shirofu goes on a “killing-spree”, an urge to kill everything in his path. Shirofu often worries about killing wolves he knows and trusts, but luckily it has not happen yet.

Shirofu woke up soon, finding himself alone at night. He had no clue where he was until he had splashed water on his face from the nearby lake. He had then remembered he had stopped to rest, but seeing that he is well-rested, he continued on his way.

Looking past the many trees, Shirofu saw a glow, just like the one from the few night ago. He followed to where it was coming from, a river. The fish were glowing, the water was glowing, the moon was glowing, and everything else glowed.

Suddenly, Shirofu had heard howling from a distance. It was a soft, beautiful howling. A howl for all wolves to know they are safe, a howl for comfort. Shirofu had first thought it was Tsukiko, but then had remembered Tsukiko had left with Remon. So Shirofu followed the direction of the howls. And there it was the white wolf with blue markings.

Shirofu was in awe by the beauty. It was not the moon or fish making the enormous glow, it was the white wolf itself.

The mysterious white wolf was on top on a rock pile by the river. She had strange blue markings, bright blue eyes, and soft smooth white fur. The wolf’s fur looked so clean that with every movement it makes, tiny sparkles of white light would fly out.

There were many fireflies around the water and trees; it was one of the most beautiful image Shirofu had ever seen. He, carefully, approached the white wolf, trying not to scare it.

The white wolf was silent, listening for sounds. It heard the paws of a creature nearby. “Hello there, fellow wolf.” The white wolf did not know who was there, it had its eyes closed facing forward. “Hello there, I am Shirofu, one of the traveling wolves. I travel alone, finding more about our mysteries.” Shirofu had half-way introduced himself. “… and where do you come from?” The white wolf asked as it looked at Shirofu. “That is not for you to know”, replied Shirofu. The white wolf looked at him, observing his features. “Hmm. Well I am Sora, one of the Celestial wolves born in Tsutamaki Village.” Sora had looked up at the stars, knowing that Tsutamaki Village was endless miles away from where she is right now. “Tsutamaki? I have stopped there once, but I was banned for accidentally… never mind…” Shirofu said as he kept his mouth shut.

“Shirofu… I know you. I know you were once human. I know your past was tragic.  I can tell by the appearance you were given and your behavior. I also know of the curse that happens every night of the full moon.” Sora was a very wise wolf; she knew how to tell which wolf was what and where they came from.

Shirofu was getting a bit annoyed by the fact that someone knows about him being human at one point. He does not trust anyone with his secret, he knew what the consequences were if the Elder Wolves were to find out and has kept his mouth shut, but now he wonders if even more wolves know of him.

“Why have you been following me? Why is it you disappear before I can even see you?” Shirofu asked as more questions came into his mind. “It is not any of your business.” Sora then looked down at the water.

“Shirofu… come here. There is something for you to see” Sora said as she looked deeper into the water. Shirofu went up the rocks and looked deep into the water. “What do you see Shirofu-sama?” asked Sora, very gently. Shirofu was quiet; he did not see anything but fish.

“I do not see anything.” said Shirofu as he looked at Sora with a confused look. “Then you are worthless, and stupid.” Sora was not entirely serious.

“You do not see yourself, you do not trust yourself, and you do not even love yourself. This is why you suffer so much Shirofu-sama, this is exactly why” Sora knew what she was talking about. Shirofu began to get upset, both sad and angry. He was angry on how Sora treated him, but sad because he does suffer very much.

“Do you understand Shirofu-sama? Do you now see why you do not see your reflection?” Sora kept questioning Shirofu, but Shirofu did not bother to answer. “Can you just shut it already?” Shirofu was being rude for asking this, but he just felt so hurt, he wanted to cry.

Sora was not surprised by his behavior, but she had felt sad for the poor wolf. “Fine… if that is what you wish, then I will be quiet.” Sora did keep it down and let Shirofu have the time to think about himself.

“You know… Shirofu-sama, I do know of only one way you can be pure. I will not tell you, but time will direct you, and you will live happily after.” Sora was the only one in the world that knew how to make Shirofu pure, happy, without any unnatural worries.

The sun was soon to rise, and Sora had left quickly, leaving Shirofu to wonder. Shirofu had only one day to think of how to pure himself, he did not want to hurt anymore lives and he wanted to be normal as soon as possible.

Shirofu continued his way out of where he was. He saw a many fruits and nuts as he reached out into an open area. His stomach began to growl so loudly. So he decided to take a break from thinking and eat, just to get his strength and brain food.

He picked off some plums, apples, raspberries, and much more. He ate carefully; making sure none of them had bugs or poison. After checking them all, and eating them, he rested under a nice shady tree.

Shirofu then sensed someone nearby, someone that did not seem like he’d enjoy.

“Hehehe… So we meet, demonic wolf.” A dark shadowy figure came out, the shape of a dragon. Shirofu did not say anything in return; he only tossed a berry at it to tease it. “Hmph! I do not fear you.” said Shirofu, not even knowing who the dragon was. “Hehehehe… well, you must not know that I am… Daku! Lord of Darkness, terrorizing children, eating puppies.” Daku, the mysterious Dragon, jumped out of the shadows.

Shirofu was still not afraid of Daku, but Shirofu did catch something of interest. Daku… was a Dragon? But only wolves live in this world. Shirofu also noticed Daku said children… children as in human beings. Who is this Daku?

“Grrr… back off, you no good beast! Or else you shall suffer!” yelled out Shirofu. It was already night and the full moon was up. Shirofu’s eyes became completely yellow, his claws grew extra big, his teeth grew larger and sharper, and soon… Shirofu snarled the most terrifying sound ever.

Daku was prepared for a battle; he knew this was Shirofu’s time. Shirofu jumped quick in the air, landing next to Daku who had moved out of the way. Daku sped straight at Shirofu, trying to dig his claws deep inside. Shirofu got scratched just a bit; he had then jumped on top of Daku and bit deep into his neck. Daku did not feel the pain; instead, he got up and slashed Shirofu. “Hehe… This shall be interesting” said Daku as he dodged more of Shirofu’s attacks.

Daku’s wounds were deep, meaning that Daku was losing blood. Shirofu has a rough coat, so it makes it harder for Shirofu to get hurt. Shirofu howled, warning everyone to get out of his way. “What’s the matter mutt? Too chicken to fight?” Daku kept teasing Shirofu. This had made Shirofu very angry like never before. Shirofu charged at Daku, leaving huge marks on the ground. Fortunately, Daku tripped as he attempted to jump, which means Shirofu got him hard.

Daku’s wounds got worse and he kept getting more cuts. The fierce slashing, growling, punching, and cussing went on until Daku felt he must leave. Shirofu was angry that Daku left in the middle of the battle, so this led Shirofu to go and find other wolves to fight and terrorize.

Soon, Shirofu found a male wolf next to a young puppy. Shirofu went straight for the puppy. He grabbed the puppy with his mouth and shut his jaws tight, leaving the puppy no air to breathe in as well as a large amount of blood loss. The wolf yelled out to Shirofu and tried to grab the puppy to get it back. “Let go of her you stupid beast!! Let go of Sayuriii!!”

Shirofu slammed the puppy down and shoved the bigger wolf away. Shirofu’s mouth was covered in blood, a horrible sight. Just then, the wolf had tears in his eyes. “You… you beast! You were the one who gave me Sayuri! Why did you have to do this?!” The wolf that was yelling turned out to be Akihiro.

Shirofu ran up to Akihiro and shoved a paw down his throat, leaving Akihiro to die. Shirofu turned around and saw little Sayuri, lying dead still on the ground. Sayuri’s limbs were broken, there were huge gashes on her side, and many bones were broken. She bled to death, the poor thing.

Shirofu continued his “killing-spree” as he went to village-to-village. Soon, the sun rose and Shirofu found himself on a rock. He was covered in blood and fur. The fur smelled like fear. This had made Shirofu very upset, ashamed of himself, for not controlling himself during every full moon night. Will he ever cure himself?..
